History of UNTH Post-Basic Midwifery School

The University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Ituku-Ozalla, Enugu State, School of Midwifery is a Post Basic School for nurses who have completed their general nursing course.

The Midwives Board of Nigeria sanctioned the school for the training of student midwives with effect from March 1977 at a joint meeting of the Midwives’ Board and the Nursing Council held at the Nursing Council Secretariat in Ikeja, Lagos State. In the same month, the school began instruction. Only qualified nurses who are duly registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) are eligible for the program. Mrs. Egbuciem Priscilla was the school’s first principal.

Application Requirements for UNTH Post-Basic Midwifery Programme

The following listed requirements are to be met by the candidate before proceeding to apply for the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital UNTH Post-Basic Midwifery Admission programme.

Interested applicants must have had the West African Certificate/GCE/NECO or their equivalent with not less than Credits in five (5) subjects at one or two sittings including English and Mathematics. Also, candidates must have had 5 credits at least in all the Science subjects including; Biology, Chemistry and Physics

All payments should be made at First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Presidential Road Branch, Enugu. Or at FCMB cash office in UNTH Ituku/Ozalla Enugu. After successful payment, the bank will give you a print out with a pin. Kindly use the pin to fill the application form. Application form can been filled in a cyber café.
