Basic Nursing is a 3 year nursing programme offered in Nigerian nursing schools and colleges, approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN). The basic nursing programme is designed to train students on practical nursing skills and gives them the knowledge and clinical experience they need to become a Registered Nurse.
Students will be taught on practical nursing skills and will get the information, abilities, and clinical experience required to become a Registered Nurse (RN). Registered Nurses (RNs) give assistance, care, and counsel to patients suffering from medical and surgical illnesses. This treatment includes checking vital signs, monitoring patients, dispensing prescriptions, keeping patient records, and providing health education, among other things. They also provide patients and their families with counsel and emotional support, as well as follow-up treatment.
Registered Nurses can work at any Tertiary Healthcare Institution (e.g., National Hospitals, Federal Medical Centers, etc.), Secondary Healthcare Institution (e.g., General Hospitals), and Primary Healthcare Institution (e.g., Primary Health Care, Comprehensive Health Care) in the world.
