History of UNTH Post-Basic Cardiothoracic School

The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria evaluated the Post Basic School of Cardiothoracic Nursing in September 1998 and granted provisional accreditation in February 1999. Mrs. Gladys Umeh was summoned from Saudi Arabia, where she is on terminal leave, by Hospital Management to come and lead the school alongside an instructor.

The school ultimately opened its doors in October of 2000, with twelve pupils chosen from across the Federation. Mrs. G. Umeh served as co-ordinator, while Mrs. N.M. Ibemesi served as educator. Mrs. G.I Maduechesi and Mrs. L.U. Igbokwe were the school’s first tutors, having been trained with the pioneer set. As guest speakers, other teachers were chosen from other Post Basic Nursing Schools and other related departments.

  3. Applicants are expected to have at least 1-2years post-qualification experience in the Clinical Practice.
  4. Applicants must provide evidence of sponsorship/release throughout the period of training by an institution or voluntary agency

All payments should be made at First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Presidential Road Branch, Enugu. Or at FCMB cash office in UNTH Ituku/Ozalla Enugu. After successful payment, the bank will give you a print out with a pin. Kindly use the pin to fill the application form. Application form can been filled in a cyber café.
