History of UNTH Post-Basic Peri-Operative
The Post Basic Perioperative Nursing School is part of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital’s Educational unit. This training program began on March 15, 1988, in this hospital, with an initial intake of 26 students who graduated in March 1989. The program began in February 1991, under the tenure of the retiring, Mrs. M. Ejikeme and Dr. O.O. Mbonu as Chairman Medical Advisory Committee, while the school’s name was changed from “Theatre Nursing” to “School of Perioperative Nursing.”
Application Requirements for UNTH Post-Basic Peri-Operative Nursing Programme
The following listed requirements are to be met by the candidate before proceeding to apply for the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital UNTH Post-Basic Peri-Operative Nursing Admission programme.
- Interested applicants must have had the West African Certificate/GCE/NECO or their equivalent with not less than Credits in five (5) subjects at one or two sittings including English and Mathematics. Also, candidates must have had 5 credits at least in all the Science subjects including; Biology, Chemistry and Physics
- Applicants must be a registered nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria
- Applicants are expected to have at least 1-2years post-qualification experience in the Clinical Practice.
- Applicants must provide evidence of sponsorship/release throughout the period of training by an institution or voluntary agency
